Boston is extremely walkable, so there is no better way to explore the city than on foot. These are some of the best walking paths and tours in Boston:

Boston Walking City Trail

This is the longest walking path in Boston, stretching more than 27 miles. Its length is ideal for someone interested in running or biking.

The path takes you through several different environments: forests, wetlands, gardens, downtown, excellent attractions (Bunker Hill Monument), and beautiful residential neighborhoods (specifically, it connects 15 communities). Because the trail is so long, there are multiple spots where you can access public transportation.

Freedom Trail

The Freedom Trail is an ideal attraction for history buffs. Boston has a lot of interesting history, and the Freedom Trail covers much of it. The trail is more than two miles long and covers more than 250 years of history. You can see some of the best museums, churches, parks, and historic markers.

Charles River Pathway

If the weather is nice, you owe it to yourself to stroll along the Charles River Pathway. This path is three miles long, allowing you to see the historic Charles River from both sides. The path is all paved, making it easy to traverse. It’s a beautiful path and a great way to see the city from the street level.
